Re:Hp Vectra VL420 Question

Hello-I was able to aquire a Vectra VL420 Desktop, and was wondering if I could upgrade the processor? It's got a 1.60Ghz Processor now, and was wondering if I could upgrade? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Re:Hp Vectra VL420 Question

Hi:

According to the factory specs, you can upgrade your vl420 to a Pentium 4 2.2 GHz/400 FSB/512 L2 cache processor.

Maximum RAM is 3x 512MB PC133 non-ecc, low density RAM.

Re: Re:Hp Vectra VL420 Question

I would upgrade the memory to 1.5 GB first and then determine if you still need the Processor upgrade. The www.crucial.com page is here for your machine    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Vectra%20VL420%20Series      The 3 GB limit is hard to come by these days as the PC133 1 GB DIMMs are scarce  and expensive. I have a couple of P4 machines  one has a 2.4 GHZ processor and the other has a 2 GHZ processor both have 2 GB in them the speed ins,t noticeable except for the slower machine also has a slower HD
