I have a Vectra VL420 where the BIOS was locked with a password. Someone recommended me to remove the battery to reset the BIOS which I did (foolish!) with the reslut that Windows won´t start (it begins to start but hangs). I have tried to flash BIOS with floppy, I have tried a MS-DOS floppy and even a W98 boot diskette. I press F8 and choose to boot on floppy but always with the same result: Windows starting up (and hangs). The LED on the floppy lights up but I can't hear it working. After trying to remove the battery again the floopy is sounding but the reslut is the same. I'm almost sure there's nothing wrong with the floopy.
Is there a work around to remove the password?
P.S. This thread has been moved from Windows based to Business PCs - Evo, Deskpro, Vectra, Kayak, Brio, e-PC.

You can not cclear password by taking the battery off.
You can clear the password by closing the switch 6 and booting the computer. Look at the following manual page 31:
You can also try to clear the CMOS (switch 5), if it helps to your problem.
Flashing the bios, when password is set, usually does not work.
How uppdate or recovery the bios is explaned on page 32 in same manual.

How you reset the CMOS may not have worked.
There is no need to FLASH the bios.. it will only creat more problems if not successfull.
Here is the rest of the data for your PC.
