HP dx7400 (P/N GV902EA#ABB) and Adaptec 1420 Sata II Raid Controller

I have tried to install an Adaptec 1420 SATA II Raid controller to an HP dx7400 (P/N GV902EA#ABB, S/N CZC8238MXD) and while it is recognized by the bios as a boot device it fails to boot from it as if no disk has been connected to it. If I connect the disk directly to the onboard controller it will boot with no problems. This is not a driver related issue as it fails at bios level. I have installed the latest BIOS from HP but the same problem continues. If I connect it to another HP PC, say DX6100MT (P/N PU834EC#AB7 , S/N CZC5021DJQ) it boots normaly.

Note that I have selected it as a boot device on the bios.

What can I do about it?

Use the last two PCI slots. Often this is an adressing issue and the last PCI slots are designed for better compability and higher speed.

Are you taling about a card that is insertet int the PCIe slot or PCI!
