HP Vectra VL CPU/DIP switches

Hello,
I have an HPVectra VL, can't determine the model number - no tags anywhere. The mainboard has this on it however:
D5711-6000I and s/n: S630UTC03C69.
It had a PII 233 installed in it.

I've replaced that CPU with a PII350 that is running at 233. I have read the mainboard diagram and set the dip switches to both 333 and 366 however it remains 233. Is there some other switch I need to trip to get it to run at the 350 ?

Thank you

Re: HP Vectra VL CPU/DIP switches

Hi Jason,

You have a Vectra VL 6/233 Series 7 PC. The fastest Pentium II processor that you can install is 333 MHz; this is a limitation of your chipset's 66 MHz front side bus frequency. The PII-350 processor that you have installed requires a front side bus frequency of 100 MHz.

Hope this helps.

Re: HP Vectra VL CPU/DIP switches

Thank you, I appreciate the speedy response. Anyone out there have a 333/66 CPU for sale or trade for a pII 350/100 ?

Thanks!

Re: HP Vectra VL CPU/DIP switches

quick question, wouldn't then support a 366/66 ? I am curious because the diagram has settings for up to a 366.

thanks again!

Re: HP Vectra VL CPU/DIP switches

Theoretically, it can support a 366 MHz Pentium II; unfortunately Intel never produced a PII at this frequency.

Re: HP Vectra VL CPU/DIP switches

My mistake, I had a Celeron 366 in mind at the time which would be 66.
Thanks
