Evo network speed issues

[ Edited ]

We are experiencing delays when opening Word documents from our network using Evo D500s and D510s. We have imaged the pcs using Zenworks and find that some pcs take 10-30 seconds to open documents whereas others which are created from the same image open instantaneously. This speed problem still occurs if we swap the network lead from the fast pc onto the slower pc. We used Compaq build dosks to create the initial build and are running Win 98 and Office 97 on these machines. Our network client is Novell. Can anyone help? We have already tried the intel chipset drivers fix suggested by Compaq but to no avail.

Re: Evo network speed issues

Sounds like you may be having problems with AutoNegotiate. Try manually setting your switch and PC NIC to the same speed and duplex.

Re: Evo network speed issues

FYI I have found a way around this problem which mainly involved slow opening of Word documents over the network. I input a manual IP address and gateway instead of using DHCP and this solved the issue. In theory this maybe shouldnt make any difference but it has had instant results on multiple pcs without any other alterations.....
