I'm adding a 20gig IDE hard drive to a Kayak XAs 7/500. XP thinks the drive is only 7.8 gig. I'm assuming the hardware is not communicating the correct size to the OS.
Is there a BIOS upgrade that will fix this? Current version is HK.11.06US.
Thanks for any help.

Your link did provide me with a newer BIOS version, unfortunately it did not solve the problem. It appears to me that the BIOS is having no problem recognizing the size of the drive. If you go into setup, it correctly list the size of the drive. But XP still thinks it is only 7.8 gig.
Strangely enough, I also added the exact same drive (same brand , size, model, etc.) to another system (same brand, model, etc.) with Linux on it and it worked just fine. No problems.
It almost seems like the problem is with XP and not the hardware.
