dc7900 - shutdown unexpectedly - iaStor.sys in Windbg

Attached is the minidump. It's occuring on all imaged dc7900s--Windows XP SP3. This is the first time I've worked with Windbg so I'm not sure if the aiStor.sys error is extraneous or if the real culprit. About 20 minutes before the minidump there's an error (id 7000) in the event log that Intel Active Management Technology User Notification Service cannot start. Not sure if it's related. I'm not sure how to fix this problem--I've been googling for a week! If someone can help I'd appreciate it.

I wanted to add that the SATA setting is set to IDE.

Have you updated the sata driver? There was a bad version of the disk controller driver that caused this. I my case I had to backdate the driver to an older one but that was a while ago. It looks like there was a new one released in april. Either way debug is almost certainly giving you the correct info.

Sorry-was on vaca. I haven't updated any drivers yet. From what I've been reading updating these drivers can be tricky so I wanted to be as sure as possible. It looks like this is the route to go but I'm confused on what I need. The PC is in IDE mode but the drivers appear to be for ACHI. I wish I could find something on this subject that spells it out better....

Hi Lenora,

I think you have accidently created a new profile in Forums. It would be nice if you could use only one profile while posting in forums, this will help to assign points to peers as well.

Thanks.

Sarika

Yes, I realized that after the fact. Thanks anyway.
