Re: error 0x4001100200001005

You have changed hardware...added RAM, added an internal card, or something that is halting the install process.
Make sure the computer is in its original configuration.

Re: error 0x4001100200001005

I tried almost everything and was extremely skeptical when someone said all they had to do was clean the recovery discs, but then I tried it..
success.

Also try burning another copy if cleaning doesn't work.

Its unfortunate that HP hasnt come up with a separate page for this or forums where their own techies are answering questions...
but what can you do?

anyway; clean or burn.
really simple.

Re: error 0x4001100200001005

One main thing you have to do if you have not yet.

Return the PC to the state it came with.

If you added a video card, remove it and go back to the onoboard etc.

The restore disks look for the original hardware.

That is why I bought a FULL OS and reformat rather than use restore disks that came with the system.
