dc7900 pci simple controller and pci port problem

Hi there,
I have a small factor dc7900 xp professional operating system. I have re formatted the machine and got most drivers. There are two in device manager:
pci simple controller
pci serial port
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B7&SUBSYS_2818103C&REV_02\3&B1BFB68&0&1B

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B4&SUBSYS_2818103C&REV_02\3&B1BFB68&0&18

these are device codes in signed devices msinfo32 system information.

I have been on the web site, down loaded most drivers but some reason this issue is still here! i have read other threads an tried what they have said but the links when trying to download the file that has worked for others a message states system doesnt reach minimun requirments!

I suspect that the chipset driver will solve both problems. The drivers are here:

If the chipset driver does not solve both problems the Simple Communication Controller is the soft modem.

Hi John have tried to put this file on and still no joy?! wonder if its because other drivers went on before the chipset? should i re format the hd again and make sure the chipset goes on first?

What do you mean the controller is just a soft modem? as in internet connection modem?

Found this thread searching for the correct drivers to solve the code 28 warnings concerning 2 devices (1) PCI Serial Port and (2) PCI Simple Communications Controller.

I also have the dc7900 CMT running Window7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Have already installed the chipset (assuming the 64-bit Vista option would work), and am hoping that you can verify which drivers I should try.

Hi Scott,
Have installed the drivers from your previous post.

Install process yielded a few warnings that the OS was not supported (Windows 7 Utlimate 6bit), though the drivers did install.

Status: The code 28 warnings for the 2 devices are now gone, as well as the original listings for these devices. That is, there is no longer a (1) PCI Serial Port or (2) PCI Simple Communications Controller listed in the Device Manager. Driver install added an INTEL AMT management and security utility that I don't see the purpose of.

In conclusion: Not sure this was a good solution, or recommendable for other users.

Hi,

The other device can found under Serial ports: Intel's remote assistance SOL device.

If loading the appropriate drivers is not the correct solution, then I can't imagine what is.

I have the same problem with a 7900 USDT (not SFF). I have downloaded all the drivers from HP after a clean install, and cannot load the pci simple communications controller.
I have installed both the AMT SOL & HECI drivers.
Do the driver installs need to be done in any particular order?

I've resolved the problem i've been having. Although i'm logging onto the computer as an administrator, and i had already installed these two drivers (sp41165 & sp41288) it didn't install properly until i right clicked and chose to RunAs Administrator..

Thanks for the tip on the new location of these devices under ports.

And, thanks for the help otherwise. The only reason I expressed a bit of doubt about this as a solution for other users with the same OS (Windows 7 - 64bit) is because of the "unsupported" messages I received upon installing them â though I do hope they were "the appropriate drivers" as you say.

I got a DC7900 model with running on Windows Server 2003 Standard. There are 2 device i can't find the drivers. Is there any suitable driver for it under Windows Server 2003?

PCI Simple Communication Controller
PCI Serial Port

Please help.
