Can you pull the Device Instance ID out of the Details tab of Device Manager?

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2994&SUBSYS_2801103C&REV_02\3&B1B
The location is listed as PCI bus 0, device 3, function 0

count form the CPU side as 1.
That is what DEVICE 3 means....
That card is the one you are missing the driver to.

Points?
Points are a way to say thank you to the person that has helped you solve your problem.
Only the question author can assign points to a given response. If you submit a question or new topic and another member replies to it, you will see a dropdown menu of points next to the reply (you must be logged in to see the menu). Select the point value and then click the "submit points" button. Note that you can rate multiple replies and submit them at one time. This is helpfull if you wish to give more than 10 points to any one individual.

I wish I was the originator of this question so I could assign you points. Thank you very much for answering a question that has been annoying me for weeks!

I'm having exactly the same problem (PCI driver) on the same PC (DC7600), but I've followed the steps given here and it is still not fixed. When I tried the 7700 driver, it said it was not compatible. The PCI device ID is
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS_3011103C&REV_01\3&B1B
Is there a place where I can lookup what a device is from its ID?
Note there are no PCI cards installed. It has on board modem etc. & all other drivers are happy.
Thanks for any assistance!
Dave

I have a DC7600 CMT which one of the users installeda Computer Associates Intel based modem V.90/V.92.
I has created the same scenario others here are describing.
Unknown device PCI simple communications controller
The modem drivers provided with the device did not help.
Reinstalled the chipset drivers, no help.
Updated the BIOS, no help.
Tried to install the HECI driver mentioned earlier in the thread, (system not compatiable) no help.
Any other suggestions ?
Thanks for you assistance in advanced
Clyde
