dc5850 + ATI HD5750 gfx = no audio?

I've upgraded a dc5850 with a moderate power HD5750 gfx card. It's working nicely, but the onboard audio has vanished. The HDMI audio device is there but nothing else. The SoundMAX driver refuses to reinstall due to lack of appropriate hardware.

Any way to leave onboard audio enabled?

Re: dc5850 + ATI HD5750 gfx = no audio?

As it seems, onboard audio vanishes when any ATI graphics card with HDMI audio is added - even when it can't be used for normal audio at all. In addition there's no way to add a PCI soundcard, the PCI slot is blocked by the ATI.

IMHO it would be very reasonable if onboard audio could be configured (on/off/auto) in BIOS setup.

Have you tried to disable ATI HDMI audio ? I'm not sure if it will work or not, but worth to try.

Disable and reboot.

If it doesn't work, there is only one solution - Use PCIe x1 Sound card.
It is not PCI card which can't be installed due to ATI HD5750.

Re: dc5850 + ATI HD5750 gfx = no audio?

No way to deactivate HDMI audio on the card - disabling in device manager makes no difference as expected since onboard audio has been deactivated long before drivers are loaded.

PCIe audio is too expensive, I think I'll try a USB solution... Actually a pity, IMHO this qualifies as a BIOS bug.

We had the same Problem with ATI HD3450.

You need to aktivate internal Sound in BIOS. It's automatically deaktivated if you turn a external Graphiccard with Sound-Chip like the ATI-Cards...
