Intel Local Management Service (LMS) and
Serial-over-LAN (SOL) support for Active Management Technology (AMT)
If that is not it:
Check your device manager.
In XP, you can look up the device name in the device manager.
Control Panel > System (icon) > hardware (tab) > Device Manager
If there is a yellow mark right click it, select Properties, Details tab...
You Will find a string like this one:
copy and paste the entire string and post it ....
VEN_ is the vendor and DEV_ is the device model number ...
with that string we can get you the proper driver.
say thanks with HP POINTS

Dear All .
I have installed the OS Win 7 on my computer HP DC7800 convertible minitower more than a year. At that time , the computer runs smoothly, with all drivers were in OK, But recently, the computer has been in trouble with yellow mark on Ethernet Controller, so I could not connect some my removable devices. I have been locking for and dowloading some drivers in the forum to install , but the situation is not improved. The Ethernet Controller has still yellow mark on it.
Would you please helping me by send to me the link for dowloading driver to solve the trouble ?
Thank you for your support.
Thank you very much.

did you run system check from bios to see if everything is working correctly?
Also regarding the ethernet controller, is it to every router, can you connect at all? If one router, check for router firmware updates, usually drops and connects are router related, in wifi, if direct connect run terminal window.
ipconfig /relese [pres enter]
ipconfig /renew [enter]
also ping router, and ip of hosts connection.
ping 192.168.1.1 or 0.1 (unlessed changed)
ping google.com or any outside site
tracert (any site name)
pathping (see if any packets are dropping)
These should be a issue, but you want to be sure that your not renewing over and over and loosing connection because your isp is dropping or whatever. also check tomshardware. Those dude know more than I ever will

Good day to everyone!
I realize this is an old thread, but it helped me with a new problem. I've got a dc7800 CMT. It's been dual-booting Vista and Ubuntu 12.04 for a while. Recently decided to replace the OEM HDD with a 256GB Samsung 840 EVO, and replace Vista with W7.
Things went relatively well, but I had three exceptions in Device Mgr. Two that said something about PCI Controller, and a USB Controller too. A Silverstone PCI-X add-on USB 3.0 (ECO4-P) card was non-functional. It worked when booted into Ubuntu. I assumed the card was the source of the error messages. The Silverstone drivers (off CD and from their website) didn't help.
So I removed the card and rebooted. Was surprised to see that there was still yellow in Device Mgr. although one of the 3 exceptions went away.
Next step, go to HP Support and let HP auto-detect the machine. I installed the chipset drivers, which made one of the remaining yellow marks go away. Something about USB Controller.
Did a search on HP Forums, which led me to this thread. I followed the link to the Serial over LAN driver. At first the driver install failed, but then it came right back up and this time it ran. That was kinda odd, but Device Mgr. looks good now.
I might have stumbled onto the correct drivers thru some sustained guessing, but it was nice to find these directions. Thanks!
