Over the last month my co-workers and I have noticed slow speeds when we are downloading drivers from HP’s site. It can range from 30 – 120 KB/s. Our corporate connection is rated at 100 Mb/s down. This also has been affecting my home connection- 20 Mb/s down. I apologize if this is not in the right forum, but I haven’t been able to fine the right one.
It’s gotten to the point where if I’m at work and getting slow performance, say 30 KB/s, I can remote connect to my home PC, download the download the file at a relatively faster rate, say 50 KB/s, and then upload it to my work computer before the first download finishes. This process only worked on the bigger installs that are over 100 MB like graphics card or Wi-Fi drivers. On smaller files, we just have to wait.
Also, we’ve had instances where the work connection gets 5 – 15 MB downloaded and the web browser indicates the download failed. Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11 are affected as is Chrome.
Earlier today the work connection was getting 70 KB/s and the home connection was getting 50; both were fairly consistent data rates. Now at work it’s jumping between 10 and 400 KB/s and home the range is 300 – 550. Here’s the URL in question: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp61501-62000/sp6184
We just found an alternate process today: Google search for the file name and download from a different FTP site: ftp://220.127.116.11/ftp1/pub/softpaq/sp61501-6200
About 60 KB/s from http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp61501-62000/sp6184
About 800 KB/s from ftp://18.104.22.168/ftp1/pub/softpaq/sp61501-6200
Any help would be appreciated,
