I got the same problem but with different disk packs. I do notknow what kind of disks are installed (HP 250GB SATA 7200rpm written on HP delivery note).
I tried 'Intel Matrix Storage Manager SATA RAID/AHCI Driver (32-Bit)' but without success. Can anybody help ?

Try setting the SATA Emulation in the BIOS under Storage > Storage Options tp Combined IDE Controller. This will allow you to install XP onto the SATA hard-drive without using the "F6 driver floppy option"
Once XP is installed, install the various software such a chipset support and then you should be able to change the SATA emulation back to for example seperate IDE controller.

The SCSI BIOS finds the drive properly (it comes up during POST), and the MB BIOS sees the drive (as I can see it while setting the boot order within the BIOS), but Windows won't see it. I tried chatting with HP tech support but they were stumped when I told them that I had been using the driver downloaded from their web site.
To futher complicte things, I did try the recovery CD and it did locate and format the HD just fine. This is of little help to me, though, as the recovery disk installs XP, and I need to get the system back up with 2k.
I also have three identical systems with the same problem, so I don't think it's hardware.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

No wonder I was practically pulling my hair out to find them.
