I am replacing approximately 50 SFF d530 (I have an additional 60 of these deployed) desktops with new 6000 pro machines. After pulling the d530s out of service with the intention on redeploying them with a clean image I am finding that there is a serious flaw in the power supply on these units. After sitting unplugged for a period of time and then being plugged back in, these PSUs have a nasty habit of sparking, popping and smoking. I have never seen anything like this but I did find several videos and information about other people with the same issue. I realize these are well out of warranty, however, had I known there was a flaw with the PSUs that would only be revealed after they were unplugged for a period of time I would have had all of them replaced under warranty.
Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible there was a recall on these faulty units and I did not find out?
