Re: HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower PC

hard to troubleshoot, but i would start by opening the unit and reseating memory (carefully - watch out for static issues), and any cards installed in the system. unplug the power cable first. Try that first

Re: HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower PC

Hi ayman1010,

Try removing A/C power, opening the chassis and finding the clear CMOS button on the board.  Press it and/or temporarily remove the CMOS "coin" battery from the board for ~20-30 seconds and replace it.  Re-apply A/C power and see if this recovers enough to get into F10 Setup, at least.

Hopefully we'll be able to figure this one out.

Thanks,
HpBiosGuy

Dear. HpBiosGuy

I did all that, clear CMOS button on the board, remove the CMOS "coin" battery from the board and I replace it.

System still not working.

Best regard.

Re: HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower PC

Hi ayman1010,

The only other thing I can think of to try is to populate the FDO jumper and see if it will boot.  This jumper header is located next to the blue SATA connectors.  You can borrow your green password jumper temporarily to do this.  Note that you may have to remove and re-apply A/C power for this to take effect.

If this still does not work, I'm afraid you are going to have to get this serviced.  The NIC FW image may have been corrupted and it would have to be re-flashed.

I'm sorry for your trouble and I hope this helps.

Thanks,
HpBiosGuy

Re: HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower PC

Hi Ayman,

For the embedded NIC firmware, I'm afraid HP will have to do it by servicing it.  I'm sorry that this is probably not the answer you wanted to hear.

Thanks,
