HP 8000 ELITE

Have HP 8000 elite and i am installing an external video card Radeon 4650 DP 1GB DH PCIe. I get no video with DVI-I cable hooked up to monitor. Have to take card out for it to recognize the on board video again. This there a switch we need to turn off the onboard in the bios or something ?

Re: HP 8000 ELITE

Hi,

Is this a x16 PCIe card? If so, the onboard video should be disabled automatically. For cards in the x4 or x1 PCIe slots, that is not necessarily true. You can switch between them in F10 Setup, Advanced, Device Options.

Hope this helps,
Scott

Re: HP 8000 ELITE

But how many lanes does it use? x1? x4? x16? Are you using the "long" PCIe slot or one of the shorter slots?

Thanks,
Scott

Re: HP 8000 ELITE

Hi, I have the same issue on an Elite 8100. A Radeon video card was installed when PC was shipped, I need to remove the card. PC beeps 6 times when booting. No signal to display.

I pluged in the card again, and searched for the option in the BIOS. There is no setting to enable/disable the onboard video. Any hints? Do I need to reset the BIOS by using the switch on the mainboard mayb
