I download chipset first then video drivers

Ethernet controller driver is nowhere.
Should i come back to vista or is there a hope
I spent 12 hours trying all possible sequences
i found here and on other sites.
Please somebody help me.

There really should not be a problem getting Windows XP working on the dx2300. This is the link to the proper drivers:
You should install the chipset driver first then any of the other drivers. For your network driver I would try the Broadcom first.
Hope this helps.

I found the solution.
The problem is in Installation kit provided by HP. It will not fully unpack the driver. You have to doit manualy.
1. Download intel NIC drivers from HP sp35544
2. download and install WinRAR (www.rarlab.com)
3. extract content from sp35544 using WinRAR
you'll get two folders: PRO100 and PRO100
inside those two folders you'll see another folder named RIS_INF. inside RIS INFs are other archives witch you have to extract manualy using WinRAR. extract all those archives in a folder on you desktop.
4. right click on My Computer, select manage, click on Device Manager, right click on ethernet and choose Update Driver.
You know the rest.
Durring the installation proccess it will ask for some other file. manualy selected from the initialy extracted folder PRO100 or PRO1000.
