Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed

Hello,

Recently I bought a desktop computer pro 3500.

When I start up the computer, the following message is on the screen.

Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed.

When I press F11 repeated every second, when starting up the computer, nothing happens.

Does did mean there is no recovery partity on the hard drive?

I also have no product key for the OS.

On the housing I can read: OS win8 Pro downgraded to Win7 Pro

What options do I have to put back a OS system on my computer?

Please advise

Hi:

I would contact HP support if your PC is still under warranty.

The recovery partition isn't going to work if the hard drive failed (which is probably what happened).

Re: Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed

Hello Paul,

I checked Hard drive with intallation program.

All tests oke.

Unfortunatally, I bought this computer second hand, so no warranty at all.

What will be best? Buy Windows 7 pro?

I would still check to see if there is warranty coverage.  Maybe the guy that sold it to you offers no warranty but there may be remaining time on the original HP warranty.

You can check the warranty coverage at the link below by entering the relevant info.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/WarrantyLookup.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodSeriesId=52708...

If there is no warranty coverage, you can probably order a set of recovery disks for your PC by telephoning HP at the link below for the country you live in.

That would be much cheaper than buying a new operating system outright.

Call the number listed for business PC's/notebooks.

Inform the customer services rep that you need to order a set of recovery disks for your 3500 Pro and you will also need to provide the serial number.
