Elite 8200 SFF BIOS-Update to 2.15

[ Edited ]

After the update from BIOS-version 2.09 or prior to version 2.15 is the entry of "AMT-configure" no longer available in the BIOS-menu. The Intel Management Engine BIOS Extension (MEBx) is over the Key CTRL-P accessible and active. However we can not reset the modified "AMT" password or disable AMT.

What's going on here?

Thanks.

Please be sure to reload the BIOS defaults after upgrading.

Hi:

Resetting the BIOS to its defaults and even clearing the CMOS does not restore the AMT configure option is the BIOS.

It is completely gone.

I looked into this today and confirmed that HP Engineering is working on a fix for this.  Please watch for the next BIOS maintence release.

In the mean time, the AMT menu will come back by downgrading to either 2.06 or 2.09.

Let me ask this...  If I were to upgrade to 2.15 and loose the AMT menu what functionality have I really lost?

For example, with AMT enabled (default) I can still access the MEBx menu with the Control + P hotkey sequence during POST.  I checked and REPSET can still see the AMT menu commands and I suspect control them.  I don’t have an OS installed on my test unit, but I suspect BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) can also see them too.

I hope this helps; at least in the short term.

Re: Elite 8200 SFF BIOS-Update to 2.15

Thanks for the update. That is great news.

I don't want to revert to an earlier BIOS. 2.14 had a lot of fixes.

I am actually on v2.16 (which for some unknown reason was pulled from the support and driver page).

I have had no issues with v2.16 in any event.

I don't use AMT, so it is N/A to me, but the PC should have the setting available, none the less.

Hi:

BIOS v2.21 has been released and it contains several enhancements, and a lot of fixes including the disappearing AMT option in the advanced settings.

I ran it, and the AMT option has indeed reappeared.
