DC7100 front audio connector pin colour coding?

Hello all,

The old motherboard of the DC7100 is dead so I'm going to replace it with a new and different board. I'm trying to figure out what the pin colour coding is from the front audio of the HP case.

I have tried the manual of the dc7100, but unfortunately nothing is mentioned about it.

The wires of the case are coded like this:
Black---Black
White---NC
Red---Green
Black---NoPin
Yellow---Lightblue

The new motherboard has the following layout (A97):
Mic---Gnd
MicPower---NC
LineOUT(R)---NC
NC---NoPin
LineOut(L)---NC

Any help is appreciated!

Re: DC7100 front audio connector pin colour coding?

HP Besiness Desktop Motherboard Front Panel Audio Header P23 Pinouts only could find in HP Document Mannul "Business Desktop Computers Technical Reference Guide".

But "HP Compaq dc71xx and dx61xx Series Business Desktop Computers Technical Reference Guide, 2nd Edition (c00283274)" have not any "Front Panel Audio Header P23 Pinouts".

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00283274/c00283274.pdf

So maybe you could according "Business Desktop Computers Technical Reference Guide" of dc7600/dc7700/dc7800/dc7900/8000Elite.

There are 3 type "Front Panel Audio Header P23 Pinouts" that could find in dc7600/dc7700/dc7800/dc7900/8000Elite.

I don't known which type suitable for you.

Re: DC7100 front audio connector pin colour coding?

Thank you,

I have found out that in the audio layout mentioned in the manuals are for HD audio I guess? The new motherboard supports HD audio aswell, so the layout should be:

1. Mic2_L----2.GND
3. Mic2_R-----4.-ACZ-DET
5. Line2_R---6.FSense1
7. FAudio_JD-8.No Pin
9. Line2_L----10. FSense2

The layout for the DC7300, DC7700, DC7800 and DC7900 is the same:
1. Mic In Left (Tip)---------2. Analog GND
3. Mic in Right (Sleeve)---4. Front Audio detect
5. HP Out Right------------6. Sense_1 Return
7. Sense Send-------------8. No Pin
9. HP Out Left--------------10. Sense_2 Return

For the DC7200 and DC7600 it is like this:
1. Mic In Left (Tip)---------2. Analog GND
3. Mic in (Sleeve)----------4. NC
5. HP Out Right------------6. Headphone Sense
7. Front Audio detec--------8. No Pin
9. HP Out Left--------------10. NC

Now I'm puzzled.

Re: DC7100 front audio connector pin colour coding?

Does anybody have an idea? The only thing that I can see is that one black wire of the Audio is connected to the front Audio/USB casing, together with the GND fromt he Frotn USB.
