Hi all,
After a problem with my compaq d530 (nothing to do with the hardware), I've ended up having to wipe it and reinstall Windows XP. However I am unable to access the internet and I'm told I am missing an ethernet driver (I'm on a different computer).
I've tried going through the wizard in Network Connections, however after choosing the option saying that the connection is on all the time, it just states that it is finished. Is the missing driver the cause of my problems?
Anybody have any idea what I can do?

If you reloaded the OS, you need to load the chipset driver too.
The ethernet driver is listed here also.

If you are unsure of which ethernet you have:
Check your device manager.
In XP, you can look up the device name in the device manager.
Control Panel > System (icon) > hardware (tab) > Device Manager
If there is a yellow mark right click it, select Properties, Details tab...
You Will find a string like this one:
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0007&SUBSYS
copy and paste the entire string and post it here on HP site .... (copy CTRL-C and PASTE CTRL-V)
VEN_ is the vendor and DEV_ is the device model number ...
with that string we can get you the proper driver.
IF you do not see a Details tab:
To configure Device Manager to show details:
Click Start , click Run , type cmd.exe , and then click OK.
Type
set DEVMGR_SHOW_DETAILS=1
and then press ENTER.
Type
start devmgmt.msc
and then press ENTER

Thanks for the help! Ended up downloading the chipset and Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Drivers for Microsoft Windows XP/2000 in order to get everything in working condition. I'm sure I would've ended up getting a hammer and hitting my computer!

Hello,
I have substantially the same problem.
I acquired a computer d530 cmd. I decided to reinstall all.
However, I can not find the drivers for the internet.
The computer does not detect any network.
Yet there is one, since I have cable in a second box.
If I give you the code PCI / VEN, can you give me the appropriate drivers?
Or tell me if the problem comes from elsewhere ...??
Tks

Graphics driver (install after chipset):
