CPU upgrade HP dc7800

Hi,

I want to upgrade the CPU of my HP dc7800 (p/n: GC758AV). Now is installed a Dual Core Intel CPU with 1,8 GHz. Which faster Intel CPU's can I use for such a upgrade? Which CPU's doe's the motherboard of the dc7800 (intel chipset) support? I didn't found any support information regarding this theme.

Thanks for help.

Re: CPU upgrade HP dc7800

Hi, Janni:

Here is the link to the dc7800 specifications:

If you have a SFF or CMT, you can install up to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Processor (2.83-GHz, 12 MB L2 cache, 1333-MHz FSB).  See page 9 for the list of supported processors

If you have the USDT, you can install up to an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Processor (3.33-GHz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 1333-MHz FSB).

If you plan on upgrading to the maximum supported processor you will need to have BIOS revision 1.26A or newer installed.

If you need to update the BIOS, make sure you flash the BIOS with your antivirus program either uninstalled or disabled. I also recommend you flash the BIOS in Windows safe mode.
