laserjet 1320nw wireless printing problem...

Howdy, y'all; unable to print wirelessly from a Toshiba laptop to an lj1320nw. An identical Toshiba laptop works correctly, and the 2nd laptop was configured in exactly the same way: same Intel wireless adapter, driver version, printer driver version, and wireless adapter configuration (ad-hoc).

Can ping the printer (169.254.215.174 from the JetDirect Config Page) wirelessly from the laptop that works, but can't from the laptop that doesn't work. Can connect the non-printing laptop to a wireless access point to access the Web (which is how I'm posting this message), so wireless connectivity is fine. The port definitions in both laptops' printer drivers are the same, looking for a "host name" of "dhcppc1." Can ping to "dhcppc1" from the laptop that prints, but not from the non-printing laptop. This is bizarre; dunno why it doesn't work from the 2nd laptop.

Any tips are appreciated.

Sincerely,

APJ

not certain.can you access a wireless utility for the adaptor and check if the radio switch is on?or try switching channels.i believe the default channel is 11.it may work on a different one.

Re: laserjet 1320nw wireless printing problem...

Thanks for your note, Razmat. The default channel is 10 (from the printer config page), though this article from MS indicates that 10 isn't used in N. America:

At any rate, because I can connect to a premises wireless access point with the non-printing laptop, the radio is clearly working.

Re: laserjet 1320nw wireless printing problem...

Given that the lj1320nw is working with another laptop, this really isn't a printing problem; it's a wireless connectivity problem. Better to solve this problem with another topic area.
