PCL XL error: Illegal tag

I get this error (when printing to my HP 4000) on a number of a total of 36 pages. A coleague who prints the same report from an installation of the same application (but to his HP 2100) does not suffer the problem.
My application is running in Windows XP.
In detail, the error reads:
PCL XL error
Subsytem: Kernel
Error: IllegalTag
Operator: 0x1b
Position: 385 (similar numbers on other pages)

Driver name is UNIDRV.dll version 5.00

Re: PCL XL error: Illegal tag

Jim,

The easiest way to avoid PCL XL errors is to use the PCL5 printer driver instead of PCL6.

Please let us know what happens.

Another way to avoid PCL XL errors is to use a Postscript driver.

Re: PCL XL error: Illegal tag

Thanks for your help. The other drivers aren't an option for me (our system admin does not want them used because of problems with other programs), but they may be helpful for some of our customers. We found another solution as well. Our program sends a number of individual reports out in succession and it is when a significant number of them are sent out that the problem comes up. If we send them out with sufficient delay between them, it seems to sidestep the problem.
