Laserjet 4050 firmware - previous versions

Is there any way of getting hold of previous versions (ie. other than the current version available from HP) of the firmware for this printer?

I believe the printer firmware requires replacing the formatter. Are you speaking of jetdirect firmware?

Robert that is not for your printer. The 9050 printer can have the firmware upgraded by download. The 4050 has the firmware built into the formatter and did not have flash capability.

Re: Laserjet 4050 firmware - previous versions

Are you talking about the 9050 MFP??? Providing the 6 character model number will be helpful (ie Q3728A). I have some older versions archived for this device. Is there a specific reason you need to downgrade?

Paul
Thanks for replying.
Model is Q3723A.
I'm trying to install a C8084A stacker on the 9050.This stacker was previously on a lsj9000. The 9050 doesn't recognise the stacker.
I had assumed this was because of a mismatch between the firmware versions of the stacker and printer.
My theory was that if I reverted to a previous version of the printer firmware I might get the printer to see the stacker.
I could then upgrade the printer and stacker firmware to the current level.

I have just been informed the reason for the stacker's absence is because the printer only has 128MB and needs 256MB RAM to recognise the stacker.
So maybe my plan isn't such a good one!

Hopefully the memory will solve your problem. I do not have any FW files for the 9050 print only version.
