4100 grinding noises

I have a Laserjet 4100 that is making a very loud grinding noise when it's turned on. Someone "unjammed" a job last week, and I'm wondering if that messed-up the fuser. I checked the fuser assembly, and one of the brown gears slips badly. I'm guessing that's the problem. With the cost of fusers, I wanted to as for any input first. Thanks in advance!

Re: 4100 grinding noises

Hi
Fuser HP part# C8049-69007 is 299.00 US exchange from HP.

Depending on your page count if low you might find it less expensive to call in service and have the gear repaired?

Thanks Bill! I didn't know what else it could be. I'll be ordering the part today.
