The Grapevine of Mobile Applications Development

Following Mike’s analogy of BYOD with Twinkies, in reading Jennifer Lent’s recent article on “team mobile” I can’t help but grapes.jpegdraw a comparison of the impact of mobile in the enterprise with the analogy of a sprawling grape vine; getting everywhere and when presented with the right conditions bearing wonderful fruits!

In reading the article it became clear that if “team mobile” is to be successful within the enterprise a number of factors need to be considered and nurtured. Among the top tips it seems are:

  • Ensure the right mobile technologies are selected that meet the needs of the app and meet the skills of the developers
  • Adapt and change the DNA of enterprise teams to enhance and include new skills sets around design and User Experience
  • Shift existing skill sets to acclimatize to new ways of testing and accommodate internal and external dev teams

Lent raises some good points in the article and ends by asking the question I think we all need to answer:

Is “team mobile” taking shape in our enterprise?
