Day 2: Live at HP Discover – an Enterprise Mobility POV

Discover Diaries – Day Two

The longest day.   Discover started early and was going strong late into the night.

The highlight of the mobility keynote was…seeing so many great examples of how HP is helping enterprises solve their business problems.    I also was blown away by Martin Fink’s presentation from HP Labs about “the machine” see: http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-06-11/with-the-machine-hp-may-have-invented-a-new-kind-of-... We’re about to experience a massive revolution in computing that will change everything we’ve been doing.   The impact will be felt in datacenters, personal computing and mobile.   I don’t think any domain will be untouched.

Then I had a great conversation w/ Jake Luddington @jakeludington, who is busy covering the conference.  He has a great compilation of interesting and insightful tech video interviews covering lots of topics.  I’ll post a link to our discussion when it goes live…. Needless to say, it was fun to share our perspective on enterprise mobility and how IT can deliver a user first experience.   The issue isn’t whether or not you’re going to support BYOD officially—the question is WHEN will you realize that that IT’s cheese has moved and we’re living in a User First, User Centric world?   When you do come to this realization, your posture, policies and approach will change.  Ok, enough from the discussion with Jake (You will just have to watch the video to find out what else we talked about).

And a few photos from the day are:

Looking forward to day three – the final day, I think it’s going to be about as busy as today.

  1. I’m going to explore BYOD and how enterprise apps can thrive in Lido 3005 at noon.
  2. Learn about the HP Access Catalog and how app management is a key to successful BYOD and enterprise mobility at 9am in Lido 4306
  3. And if you want to see an end to end test drive of the mobile application lifecycle, then at 2pm, be sure to go to  Murano 3303.
  4. And, we’ll have another BYOD round table at  – 10:30 a.m. ...remember seats are limited
  5. The Discover Zone will be open with lots to see and do.
  6. …(If you’re not at Discover – check out this page where you can see a live stream of Discover highlights)
