No update statuts

Hi BSM expert

We use BSM9.13 with BSMIA.

BSMIA sends events to BSM when CI (third party CIs) status changes. I use the LegacySystem ETI.

Is there a way for BSM to automatically change the CI status to 'not up to date' when BSM didin't receive any status from BSMIA for a predifined time.

Regards,

Marc

Re: No update statuts

Hi Marc,

this functionality is in place out of the box.

Let's have a look an example from my box (BSM 9.23, BSMC 9.23, but is the same as with BSM 9.13).
On BSMC I have a logfile policy with a monitor name "BSMC_server_stats_used_memory" reporting the metric "used_memory" to BSM,
the policy executes all 10 minutes

In BSM -> Applications -> Service Health -> view "System Monitors" I can see my measurement under
System Monitors -> BSMC_swvm404 (the name of my BSMC instance) ->
Integration Monitors
 -> 2d0f912c-53e3-4c63-bc53-4710777b5831 (CIT SiteScope Group)
    -> 2d0f912c-53e3-4c63-bc53-4710777b5831 (CIT SiteScope Monitor)

KPI "Legacy System" is green ...

BSM -> Admininistration -> Service Health -> Ci Indicators -> view "System Monitors"
 System Monitors -> BSMC_swvm404 (the name of my BSMC instance) -> Integration Monitors
  -> 2d0f912c-53e3-4c63-bc53-4710777b5831 (CIT SiteScope Group)
     -> 2d0f912c-53e3-4c63-bc53-4710777b5831 (CIT SiteScope Monitor)

select 2d0f912c-53e3-4c63-bc53-4710777b5831 (CIT SiteScope Monitor)

on the bottom of the screen select tab "Health Indicators"

Double-click on "Legacy System", a new window pops up with
Health Indicator Properties
 Business Rule Parameters
  No data timeout : 900 seconds

The 900 seconds, this is the time it takes for the status of the KPI to turn into blue / no data,
when no new data has been reported to BSM.

In my case the monitor runs all 10 minutes, so I might wanna change the timeout to 600 seconds + some spare time (to allow the data to be loaded from BSMC to BSM), so 660 seconds.

As soon as BSM doesn't "see" any data for this entity within the dfined period of time, the status turns into blue.

Greetings

Siggi

Re: No update statuts

with one correction: if the HI is impacted by events only - then it will stay in the last status until new event will say otherwise.
in BSM9.2x we introduced Stream Based events Correlation, and you can use "missing occurrence" functionality to trigger the missing event with "no data" status.

Re: No update statuts

Thank's Asaf,

Unforetunnally we are in BSM9.13 and you're right, CIs are impacted only by events, so I guess there is no solution for my request.

Marc
