We need to installa BSM and OMi in our environment, I need clarification on few points about BSM and OMi.
1)Does BSM and OMi has different setup files and what is prouct code of each.
-->reason I am asking is because when I select OMi for downloading it gives list of product which has BSM setup as well and some other products, I know BSM code but not sure what exactly to download for OMi.
2)Do we need to install BSM and OMi on same server or different server, what is the role of OMi.
3) what is difference between OM and OMi and
4)can OMi be installed stand alone tool
Please provide your inputs.

1) no, it's the same installation files
2) OMi is part of BSM, so it is installed as part of BSM. you can install BSM in typical mode (1 server) or distributed (1 GW and 1 DPS)
3) a lot.... OM is managing OM Agents and policies. OMi is the new MoM with new GUI and part of BSM

Asaf is correct !
Actually ! There was two different tool -
1. HP OM
2. HP BAC
then BAC is upgrade and change the name as BSM with extra features. So OMi is one of the Feature of BSM, Which is little similar as HP OM , but in different manner. It is just a MoM.

now bit more on OMi..
We can veiw events of SiteScope, BPM, NNMi in OMi for correlation and event management..what if I want OMi to view some traps coming from other third party tools like cisco prime..how do we configure this in OMi..is it available in OMi OOTB.

You need HP Integration Adapter to install into the other server which have your third party tool. It is only used to integrate third party tool with your BSM and take the alert with the help of SNMP trap or XML file.
HP Integration Adapter give the alert to OMi Browser according to your configuration in HP Integration Adapter,
The other tool will not show into the BSM.
If you find the solution then please keep this tag into solution state.

Lets say we have 4 different types of network monitoring system like triple data, hp insight control,PAMMI (IPTV, CCTV, wireless network, etc) which are monitoring thier networks, now If I install HP integration adapter on each of these server then I will be able to forward XML or SNMP traps from these monitoring systems to OMi, right?
in this case XML or SNMP traps which has been received in OMi will have node name which is faulty, how will OMi treat this for corelation, as there is no such CI available in OMi, like SAM, or BPM.
Does integration aapter also passes nodes details that is being monitored by that system to OMi(RTSM) which later can be used for correlation.

You can also write the Discovery Policies in integration adaptor .Discovered attributes may be hardware resources, operating system attributes, applications, and other information that can be retrieved from an object and mapped to CI attributes in the RTSM (Run-time Service Model).

COuld you please elaborate on discovery part and correlation.
Also I seen your other post about integration adapter and connectors, so what exactly we will have to install on third party tools adapter or connector and please provide product code if you have the same.
Thank you so much!!

thanks for the document..
we are using BSM 9.2 hence asking for us it will b BSM connector or integration adapter..also we are going to use MS SCOM as well so "Can we export MS SCOM server toplogy into OMi or is there any other option as well for this..or we will have to discover servers in NNMi and then import topology into OMi"

If you use BSM 9.2x you should work with BSM Connector.
Also for intergation with SCOM there is OOB integration package - BSM for SCOM Connector 2.0. You can download it from HPLN along with all necessary documentation.

OMi is a set of seperate licenses, depending on what functionality you want.
The Event Management Foundation gives you basic OMi functionality, like the Event Browser, Custom Actions and Tools, Event Processing capabilities, etc.
The Topology-Based Event Correlation license adds the ability to do Topology-Based Event Correlation, which is the ability to look at events and determine what event is a cause and what is a symptom (for example, if a router goes down and you see a router down event, and a database unavailable event, the router down is the cause and the database unavailable is the symptom).
