Geographic Map and CI's geolocation

[ Edited ]

Hello experts,

I have one technical question.

We need to see the CI's geographic position in the Geographic Map tab (Application - Service Helath - Geographic Map).

Does the BSM allow to specify the CI's geographic coordinate directly in the CI Properties pane without relating this CI with other CIs of "Location" CI type?

We use BSM 9.22.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Geographic Map and CI's geolocation

No. geo location must be defined on a Location CI, and then you will connect your "real" CI to that "Location" CI (using "membership" link, from the location to the CI).

Re: Geographic Map and CI's geolocation

Thank you for response.

Your advice is working good, but I would like to clarify one point.
I tried create custom CI type that is clone of "Location" CI type and that have additional custom properties. But a simple cloning of "Location" CI type to "Location2" CI type haven't successful results.
Is there any indication of CI type on which the BSM determines this CI type is the "Location" CI type?

Best regards,
Mike

Re: Geographic Map and CI's geolocation

yes, we are looking only for CIT "location".

I dont know why you would want to clone the CIT. what is the use case behind this??

Re: Geographic Map and CI's geolocation

Thank you for response.

I want to find out which a CI type parameter is responsible for the fact that CIs of this type are displayed on a map.
Today HP Support told me about the same thing as you, Asaf.
I accept your answer as a solution.

Best regards,
Mike
