Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

Hello,

I am wandering if it's possible to build a UI Automation to Run the SLA Calculation using VUGen or any other programming language?

Any ideas will be appreciated!

Thank you,

Rad

Re: Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

Hi,

I don't understand what you are trying to do.

Do you want to duplicate what BSM is doing when it does an SLA calculation?

Do you want to be able to create a Vugen script that will log into the BSM UI and then select the SLA recalculation?

??

Re: Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

Thank you for your reply!!!

Yes, you got it perfectly as you stated it below:

Do you want to be able to create a Vugen script that will log into the BSM UI and then select the SLA recalculation?

In addition, I need to do it for more than 160 application.  I am thinking if it's possible to create the script, then I can create a text list of applications for the script to run.

Thank you,

Rad

Re: Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

Hi,

You can use Vugen to record the process of manually doing a recalculation of 1 SLM, and then use that script as the basis for doing what you want.

There will be some correlation that needs to be done.

You can parameterize which SLM's to select, with the SLM's in a file, and then set Vugen to run as many iterations as needed to hit each SLM.

Re: Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

Thank you again for your reply!!!

By any chance, would you happen to have a sample script to look at?

Else, you did great answering my questions.

Thank you,

Rad

Re: Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

I believe the SLA recalculation task can be invoked from JMX. And developing VuGen script for regular HTTP (BSM JMX console) is much easier that developing such script for BSM UI.

Re: Creating Automation Script to Run SLA Calculation

Hello Dmitry,

In other words, you are saying that I can create a script in VuGen using Http and record all the steps that are needed to complete the task (Run the SLA Calculation)?

Is this a straight forward recording script that I can do it without any extra modifications?

Thank you,

Rad

I didn't say that. At the very least you would probably need to parameterize it to handle multiple SLAs with the same URL. My point is the HTTP script would be a way easier to create than the one dealing with BSM UI.
