BPM 9.23 Install fails

ERROR : There was a failure with this installation action for HP Business Process Monitor 9.23. Installing LGSA... has returned a non-zero error code. HP Business Process Monitor will not be installed.

I've noticed a few threads in the past - was there any quick fix for this issue?

UAC is disabled, Antivirus off and run as Admin.

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

System partition - check
Uninstalled Vugen - check
64bit Windows 2008 SP2 - well I suppose that's the issue

Would patching it to 2008 R2 do any better or is there any hope in sight for 64 bits 2008?

Best regards

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Hi,

A BPM 9.23 will install successfully on Windows 2008 SP2 (and Windows 2008 R2).

There are a lot of possible causes for the non-zero error.  All that's really saying is a batch file that runs during the install failed, but doesn't provide any more details.

You will need to look at the installation logs to get a better idea of what the actual failure is.

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

I also keep getting these errors:

'There was a failure with this installation action for HP Business Process Monitor 9.23. Installing LGSA... has returned a non-zero code. HP Business Process Monitor will not be installed."

I have made sure of all the notes and limitations specified below and make sure to download the correct x64 installer and ran it as administrator but it keeps failing with the same error. The server even got restarted without any changes to the installation error. I have included my installation log file.

Notes and Limitations

  • Do not install BPM on the same machine as HP Virtual User Generator (VuGen).
  • BPM cannot run on the same machine as BSM due to a port conflict.
  • BPM should not be installed on a network drive.
  • If you are unable to install BPM from a remote location, copy the installation file to the local machine and install from there (this greatly reduces the download time and enables you to control when BPM is down during installation).
  • You cannot install BPM to an installation path that contains special characters (for example, # () %) or spaces.
  • BPM does not support installation via terminal service. Installation must be performed at the destination machine.

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Hi,

R&D is working on a patch for BPM 9.23 to address the installation issues customers are seeing.  It should be released shortly.

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Is that by chance fixed in BPM 9.23 Patch 1 for Windows x64 ?
BACBPM_00059:

Change Request: QCCR1I93736

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

The BPM patch 1 fixed many installation issues, here is the list:

  • Problem installing LG prerequisites – Fixed an issue with detection of missing prerequisites
  • Installing from non-system drive is now working (QCCR1I93347)
  • Installation to a path that contains spaces is now working
  • BPM uninstall process displays an error message if LG was uninstalled manually (QCCR1I93344)
  • In some cases installation repeats to restart the system (QCCR1I93736)
  • Added automatic validation and display of a warning message if the installation setup file path contain spaces

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Yeah that solved the problem(it took 2 install tries since it stopped somewhere between LR 11.50 and 11.5x) but it is reporting fine.
However:
When trying to open http://localhost:2696/
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_23
....
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/hp/bsm/bpm/admin/client/applet/BpmAdminApplet : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0
...
I have Java 1.7.0_51 on the server.

This doesn't seem to be related to https://www.java.com/en/download/help/java_blocked.xml to me either?

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Hello,

I would advise to use Java 1.7_45 instead.

please also verify that your java settings have the option to allow next generation plug-in enable

Kind regards,

Javier

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Hi,

This problem stems from the system requirements.

I recommended bpm install windwos server 2008 stan/ent. x64 sp2

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

It is a 2008 Standard SP2 - just not R2.
I uninstalled 1.7.0_51 and installed 1.7.0_45 - but still quits with "Unsupported major.minor version 51.0" on me *which is really strange..*

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

I had a simillar issue mine seems to have been caused by running the install from a mounted iso from a virutal cdrom drive.  An error popped upa vout unable to write to a installation.log file.

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Hello all,

I was trying to install HP BPM 9.24 for 64 bit Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.

And I've got the below error:

Installing LGSA...
Initialize action for com.hp.ov.installer.ovapp.core.ActionRunner@939ec3

===============================================================================
 running from "C:\BACBPM_00063"
===============================================================================

ERROR: Failed to install LGSA 12

Is this because of the operating system?

Thanks.

Best regards.

Re: BPM 9.23 Install fails

Hi,

BPM 9.24 isn't certified to run on Window 2012 R2, so it's very possible that this is the cause of the problem.
