Alerting (Event Based Alerts) in BAC 7.5

hello board

we're currently trying to set up some basic alerting functionality (event based alerts) in BAC 7.5
the goal is to generate alters when the transaction results breach the baselined thresholds.
so we have a bunch of running business process profile on which we have ran the baselining calculation. now we have configured a few alerts which should be triggered when the results of the transaction are exceeding the calculated thresholds. please see the attached document for some screenshots.

configured so far:

1. working business process profile with data being reported to BAC
2. used baselinig on the profile (see screenshot)
3. configured event based alerts for the profile (see screenshot)

now we would expect to see alerts under Event-Based Alerts Reports > Alerts Log

but there is nothing showing up in the alert log (see screenshot)

naturally any help in this matter is highly apprecaited and points will be awarded

thanks and cheers

Re: Alerting (Event Based Alerts) in BAC 7.5

Have you seen any event_based alert after upgrading to 7.5?

Any errors in HPBAC\log\alerts directory on DPS server?

Re: Alerting (Event Based Alerts) in BAC 7.5

hello Hande

many thanks for your quick reply

>>> Have you seen any event_based alert after upgrading to 7.5?

we have never performed any kind of upgrade. our install is 7.5 from scratch

>>> Any errors in HPBAC\log\alerts directory on DPS server?

just tried to find anything meaningful in the log files. here some samples and in the attached
.zip file the complete log files.

Seems like the email notification can not be sent due to a wrong SMTP server. Do you think the fact that the notification can not be sent is also related to the fact that
no alerts show up in the Alert Log?

please see that log files in the attached .zip ... if you're looking for some specific info from any other log file please let me know so i can provide it

thanks and cheers

Re: Alerting (Event Based Alerts) in BAC 7.5

It seems like a problem with your SMTP server. Some SMTP server does not have relay enabled so you can't send email. Please check the SMTP server log for more detail error.

Re: Alerting (Event Based Alerts) in BAC 7.5

Hello,

It seems like the SMTP is not responding intemittently. Since yu are getting alerts but they are deleyed is a clear indication of the system malfunction.

To get to the root of this, would you create a Port monitors to monitor port 25 for both Primary & Secondary SMTP server configured in BSM.

The time when the STMP is not reachable, these errors are expected however I still doubt of both the SMTP servers ( Primary & Alternate ) malfunctioning at the same time. Please do check the events on the SMTP server also so that top clear out the doubts. Either the SMTP server was not reachable or it was not responding to SMTP queries.
