HP Discover (Barcelona) - what’s up Doc

Whether you’re attending HP Discover in person or just following the event online, you’re more than welcome to join me as I attempt to cram as much information in three days as humanly possible. For some people it is just part of the job—for others it’s an adventure into wonderland.

Application Lifecycle Management - software utopia

bs.jpgOne of my favorite topics is Application Lifecycle Management. It’s hard to pick just one track session from another, so I recommend we all meet up and divide the track sessions to attend or we can just wait until HP Discover publishes the audio with the presentation online—your option. If neither of these options works for you I have a third option.   Here is my top 10 wish list for this year (I will just have to believe in miracles with the rest).

  1. Start with Physical therapy with DT1863 - Accelerate time to market through scaling Agile to enterprise level -level being presented by Guru Shamim Ahmed. He will be talking about agile and the challenges of enterprise agility.  I can’t guarantee that you’ll lose weight (especially with all of that amazing Spanish food) but I do promise that you will have a new understanding of agile as an enterprise solution.
  2. Social programming will be addressed in "TB1836 - HP IT: bringing development, testing, and operations together "by HP’s in-house scholars Olivier Jacques and Edward Raigosa. These two are discussing one of my favorite subjects—centralizing the  SDLC process
  3. HP’s first attempt at a reality showBB1662 - Master the Agile app lifecycle: A live demo of HP Software innovations for apps “using a real cast of characters, showcasing the latest applications portfolio capabilities.” They are going to use words like speedy, mobility, integration, and quality without taking a breath; because if they do, they won’t be able to cover everything in the time allotted. That ought to be fun; oxygen will be backstage just in case.
  4. A thinner and trimmer client DT1677 - HP ALM and QC Enterprise next release preview  from the people who brought you health and lifestyle coaches Melinda Clover and Vandan Nayak.  They will preview the beta release of the fully web-based client module for HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and HP Quality Center (QC) Enterprise. I don’t know if this is one of those NDA ones but I’m planning to attend anyway.
  5. Everybody likes a great case study and here’s one for you “DT1758 - Case study from Cattolica IT Services on time to value through Testing-as-a-Service “presented by the Mediterranean’s finest, Francesco Colavita & Denis Bella. In this session you can hear how Societa Cattolica di Assicurazione  has transformed to an open and interconnected insurance model where the company benefits from a shorter business process, distributed cooperation and business information quality assurance.
  6. image5a.jpgAt the track session—BB3285 - Forrester Research: velocity and quality in the Age of the Customer  you can hear Kurt Bittner, Forrester Principal Analyst for Application Development and Delivery trends. We all know that when Forrester talks CIOs listen.
  7. Being the fashionable and trendy guy that I am, you know I am going to stop by and see the presentation by models Michael Cooper, Mark Buenen and Sultan Syed. The trio is presenting the latest software passions at “BB1603 - Emerging trends in software testing: 2013–2014 World Quality Report”. I may not be a fashionista but I am definitely a geekonista.
  8. We are no longer are using Quick Test Pro and this is your opportunity to see what’s in the future by attending “BB1929 - What's ahead in HP Unified Functional Testing and Business Process Testing given by the fortunetellers, mind readers and illusionist Ronit Soen, Amir Banet and Andrew Flick
  9. Europe is well aware performance is no laughing matter so one of the required courses for us to attend should be TB1689 - Future perspective: The HP Performance Center roadmap  hosted by  long-distance runners Eran Schitzer & Mukulika Kapas.
  10. For those sci-fi movie nuts DF1566 - Systematic vs. exploratory testing: Is manual testing dead?  Presented by yours truly where we will discuss in detail the pros and cons systematic and exploratory testing. You will learn how to use logic as well as trust your feeling with  the aid of our trusted sidekick “Sprinter” to navigate the future of testing.

If you’re like me seeing is believing I would highly recommend catching a couple these demos:

  Mobility guide to the galaxy

Spain Space View.jpgIf cloning wasn’t illegal I wouldn’t have to make the hard choices between software development and mobility.  I promised myself that if time travel is possible in the future these are the three courses I want to come back and see “DT3399 - Mobile app quality from end to end: mixing and matching cloud “  , “DF3231 - Mobile Dev/Ops: The Complete Mobile Lifecycle “ ,and  “DF3206 - Testing Times “. So if you see a weird guys standing in the back with futuristic clothing in one of these three sessions make sure to stop by and ask him who wins the World Cup it may be to your advantage to write it down.

If you would like  to hang out with me and my smarter than me friends, you can find us in one of  three places:

Or you and your team could schedule a meeting with me or any specialist before or during the conference and it’s completely free. So whether you have a question about how to integrate your ALM system or if you just want to know if time travel is possible please go to the meeting center and say hi. (to setup a meeting you can book time with experts by contact your HP Sales Person)

I look forward to seeing you in Barcelona. If you haven’t registered for the event yet, you can do so here.
